Oakridge Farms at Lolly Creek

For nearly 60 years, Oakridge Farms has shared its traditions of quail hunting and enjoying the environment with family and friends from around the Southeast. In more recent years, our love for the woods and conservationist values has brought about a new and exciting revitalization of Oakridge’s natural uplands. As a result, most of the old agricultural fields have been replanted in native Longleaf pines and some of the ground cover has been restored with native wiregrass seedlings. Our efforts culminated with the donation of a conservation easement to the Nature Conservancy for the purpose of protecting Oakridge Farms in perpetuity.

Oakridge is home to many threatened and endangered species, including Sherman’s fox squirrels and the gopher tortoise, the state reptile of Georgia, which provide homes to many other native species with its burrows. Endangered plants include the yellow pitcher plant, the purple honeycomb head, and many others. Predators such as hawks, bobcats, and rattlesnakes help control small ground animals that destroy imperiled quail and gopher tortoise nests. All of these plant and animal species are an important part of Oakridge Farms and we are committed to protecting the environment in which they thrive. Today, Lolly Creek offers to other land owners the practical applications developed from research trials in ecological forestry at Oakridge Farms.
